English Department faculty member places 3rd in Nick Joaquin Literary Awards

Danton R. Remoto, associate professor in the Department of English and Ateneo alumnus (AB IS 1983, MA English Lit 1989), placed third in the Nick Joaquin Literary Awards sponsored by the Philippine Graphic Magazine for his short story “Wings of Desire.”
The awarding ceremony was held on June 18, 2008 in Makati City.
Remoto is known for co-editing the Ladlad series with J. Neil Garcia. He has also published books such as “Skin , Voices , Faces” and “Black Silk Pajamas / Poems in English and Filipino.”
He has also won numerous awards, including the ASEAN prize for the essay (1979), the Palanca for the essay (1987), the CCP literary award for poetry, and the Stirling District Arts Council award for poetry and the short story.
